Developing Leadership Skills of Visually Impaired Women

Manique Gunaratne represented Sri Lanka at an International Women’s Training Seminar in Empowerment for SAARC Countries in May/June 2004 held in New Delhi, India. The training programme was organised by the Asian Blind Union and the All India Confederation of the Blind. Visually impaired women were trained leadership skills, Information & Communication Technology, Home Management Skills, Self Defence skills (karate) and Mobility & Orientation skills. Women with disabilities in SAARC countries were empowered from this training.
