Strengthening Disability Inclusion: Insights from the Asian Regional Disability Summit 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand

#Manique Gunaratne and Iruni Gunesakera attended the #Asian Regional #Disability #Summit, which took place in February 2025, at the #Novotel Hotel Siam Square in #Bangkok, Thailand. The Summit was co hosted by the #ASEAN #Disability #Forum and #International #Disability #Alliance, with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation. As part of the Regional Pre-Summits series for the Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2025, the Asian Regional Summit focused on embedding the GDS mechanism at the regional level. It offered an invaluable platform for Organizations of Persons with #Disabilities (OPDs) to gather, share experiences, and engage with diverse stakeholders in preparation for the GDS. It is an opportunity to discuss key issues impacting persons with disabilities in Asia, contribute to the regional dialogue on disability inclusion, and push for relevant commitments that reflect the needs and challenges of the region. Additionally, the summit offered a chance for OPDs to connect with peers and other stakeholders, helping to build stronger networks and collaborations aimed at advancing disability rights and inclusion.
