Access to travel experiences reminds society that everyone has the right to leisure, relaxation, and adventure — regardless of ability.

#Manique Gunaratne created the opportunity for a group of persons with disabilities to visit the Jaffna Causeway in May 2022.

Stretching across serene waters, the #Jaffna #Causeway connects the mainland to the Jaffna Peninsula in Sri Lanka’s Northern Province. It’s a long, scenic route surrounded by lagoons and mangroves, where you can witness stunning sunsets, flocks of migratory birds, and the gentle rhythm of village life.

Whether you’re traveling by car, tuk-tuk, or bicycle, the causeway offers a peaceful escape with endless photo opportunities. Imagine a sunset stop along the way, with soft winds brushing your face and the calming sight of waters stretching on either side.

It’s important to improve accessibility features — like #wheelchair-friendly pathways, accessible public rest areas, and inclusive transport options — so that everyone can enjoy these natural treasures.

යාපනය හරස්පාලම යනු උතුරු පළාතේ යාපනය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පිහිටා ඇති, මුහුද හරහා යාපනය දිවයින හා දකුණු දිග ප්‍රදේශ සම්බන්ධ කරන වැදගත් මාර්ගයයි. මෙය "Elephant Pass Causeway" ලෙසද හැඳින්වේ. හරස්පාලම ඉදිකර ඇත්තේ යාපනය දූපත් සමූහය සහ මහා දිවයින අතර ප්‍රධාන ගමන් මාර්ගයක් සපයන ලෙසිනි.

මෙම හරස්පාලම, ලගින් පිහිටි මීරේසන්කුලම් ජලාශය සහ කලාපය හරහා දිවෙන අතර, ඉතා සුන්දර දෘශ්‍ය රූපයක්ද සපයයි. වසර ගණනාවක් තිස්සේ මෙම හරස්පාලම උතුරු පළාතේ ජනතාවගේ දිවියට හා ආර්ථිකයට ඉතා වැදගත් සාධකයක් වී තිබේ. යුධ සමයේද මෙය ඉතා උණුසුම් සහ වැදගත් ස්ථානයක් ලෙස කටයුතු කළ අතර අද දිනයේදී නැවත සංවර්ධනය කර ඇත.

සංචාරකයන් සඳහාද මෙම හරස්පාලම දැකුම්මත් ස්ථානයක් වන අතර, යාපනයේ සුන්දරත්වය රසවිඳීමට කැමති අයට මෙය අමතක කළ නොහැකි නේවාසික මාර්ගයකි.
