Empowerment Through Exploration at Saranath Museam in India

#Travelling is more than just moving from one place to another — it’s a powerful form of learning, healing, and empowerment, especially for persons with #disabilities. Recently, #Manique Gunaratne, a passionate advocate for disability rights, joined a meaningful #Lord #Buddha pilgrimage to #Dambadiwa in #India with a dedicated team from the #Damrivi Foundation in November 2024.

One of the highlights of this spiritual journey was the visit to the #Sarnath #Museum in #Varanasi — a place of profound historical and religious significance. Located near the site where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon, the museum houses ancient relics, including the renowned Lion Capital of #Ashoka — India’s national emblem. This treasure trove of Buddhist art and culture opened doors to deeper reflection and connection.

This pilgrimage is a reminder that with the right support and inclusive planning, persons with disabilities can fully participate in cultural, spiritual, and educational experiences — enriching their lives and those around them.
