Accessible Pilgrimage to Durgeshweri, Bodhgaya, India

#Travel is more than movement—it is freedom, discovery, and healing. For persons with #disabilities, #accessible #tourism opens doors to meaningful experiences and spiritual growth. 

#Manique Gunaratne, together with a team from #Damrivi Foundation, embarked on a #Buddha #pilgrimage to #Dambadiwa, #India in November 2024, visiting the sacred #Durgeshweri in #Bodhgaya—a place of immense significance where #Lord #Buddha spent time in deep meditation before attaining Enlightenment. 

This journey highlights the importance of #inclusive travel**, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can connect with heritage, culture, and spirituality.


දූර්ගේශ්වරි ගුහා මාලාව (Durgeshwarī Caves) බෝධ් ගයාට සමීපව පිහිටි, බුදුන්ගේ ජීවිතයේ ඉතා වැදගත් ස්ථානයකි. මෙය ගයා දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ දූර්ගේශ්වරි කන්දේ පිහිටා ඇත. බෝධ් ගයා නගරයෙන් කිලෝමීටර් කිහිපයක දුරින් පවතී.

සම්ප්‍රදාය අනුව, බෝධිසත්ව සිද්ධාර්ථ ගෞතමයන් සම්මාසම්බුද්ධත්වය ලබා ගැනීම සඳහා දීර්ඝ සත්‍ය සොයන ගමනේදී වසර හයක් පුරා දැඩි දුෂ්කරක්‍රියා (අතිශය පසුතැවිලි භාවනා) මෙම ගුහාවලදී සිදු කළ බව කියවෙයි. මෙම කාලය තුළ ඔහු අතිශය කුඩා ආහාර ප්‍රමාණයකින් ජීවිතය පවත්වාගෙන ගිය අතර, ශරීරය ඉතා දුර්වල හා කෙඳිරිගැස්මෙන් පිරි තත්ත්වයට ළඟා විය.

අවසානයේ, මේ අතිශය දුෂ්කර ක්‍රමයන් හරහා නිවන් මඟ සොයාගත නොහැකි බව අවබෝධ කර ගත් ඔහු, මධ්‍යම මාර්ගය පිළිපදින්න තීරණය කළේ මෙහි සිටින අවසන් කාලයේදී ය. ඉන්පසු, ඔහු නේරංජනා ගඟ වෙත පිවිස ශක්තිය නැවත ලබා, මහා බෝධි වෘක්ෂය යට බුදුපදාව ලැබීමට පිවිසිය.

අද දූර්ගේශ්වරි ගුහා මාලාව බුද්ධ වන්දනා ස්ථානයක් ලෙස ලෝක බෞද්ධයන් අතර විශාල ගෞරවයක් ලබයි. ගුහා මධ්‍යයේ බුදු පිළිමය, පුරාණ බුද්ධ චිත්‍ර හා කඳු මුදුනේ දෘශ්‍ය මනෝහරත්වය මෙම ස්ථානයට විශේෂ ආකර්ෂණයක් ලබා දෙයි.
