GIZ INCLUDES WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

 The team behind the #GIZ VTSL2 project enthusiastically included #women with #disabilities at the  #International #Women’s #Day celebratory event in March 2024. #Manique Gunaratne joined as a panellist for the event. Participation of women with disabilities is not just valued; it is central to the dialogue aim to foster.

The International Women’s Day 2024 campaign, under the theme "Inspire Inclusion," aims to celebrate the achievements of women while advocating for greater gender equality and inclusivity. This year, the focus is on fostering inclusive ecological sustainable social entrepreneurship among women, highlighting their key role in driving environmental sustainability and economic empowerment. 

This year the Campaign Title was "Inspiring Inclusion: Women-led Social Entrepreneurship".

The event was held at the Debarawewa National SchoolTissamaharama.

There were five hundred participants including women entrepreneurs, rural women, and persons with disabilities.

Women Development Federation (WDF) shared the stage with:

Ms.Anusha Warnakula - Business Owner at Susinidu Baby Care Productions 

Ms. Thejanee Wijesinghe was the moderator for the event. 

The diversity of the panna lists expertise significantly deepened our exploration and dialogue on the vital role of sustainable social entrepreneurship among women.

Mr. Suresh De Mel’s Global market access insights laid a crucial groundwork for conversation, highlighting the practical challenges and opportunities for women-led enterprises. Ms. Himali’s unique perspective allowed to delve into innovative strategies and hurdles within social entrepreneurship. Ms. Manique’s the powerful encouragement offered to empower women with disabilities has made an enduring impression on everyone present. Ms. Anusha’s practical wisdom shared as a female entrepreneur brought to light the tangible successes and applications in the field.

The collective breadth of perspectives not only enriched discussion but also emphasized the significance of promoting inclusive and ecologically sustainable entrepreneurship among women.
