UNIVERSAL ACCEPTANCE DAY 2024

“THEEKSHANA” organised the #Universal #Acceptance #Day 2024 at the #Galle #Face Hotel in March 2024. The Universal Acceptance Day had an #inclusive approach which included #persons with #disabilities. #Manique Gunaratne together with persons with disabilities participated at this event where there were speakers nationally and internationally.

Large presentation screen at a conference, displaying "Universal Acceptance Day 2024". The left side of the screen shows a circular photo of a smiling man with text: "Mr. Champika Wijayatunga, Regional Technical Engagement Sr. Manager". The center and right side of the screen features a slide about ASCII domain name labels with the example "www.cafe-123.com", explaining the use of letters, digits, hyphens, and label length. Several logos, including ICANN and LK Domain Registry, appear at the top and bottom, and a few sponsors are mentioned (Java Institute and SLT Mobitel). In the foreground, two people seen from the back are sitting and watching the presentation. The environment suggests a formal event with stage lighting and a neatly arranged table with flowers and drinks.

Indoor event setting with two people sitting at a table. On the left, a man is wearing a dark suit jacket, white shirt, and glasses, and he is looking towards his left while holding a phone. On the right, a woman is dressed in a light green and gold saree, with her hands resting in her lap, gazing directly at the camera. Behind them, the table is covered with a white tablecloth and has several water bottles and glasses. There are other people seated further back, some facing the stage. The background features bright lights, two cameras on tripods, and a large arched window. The atmosphere has a professional and formal tone, likely at a conference or official event.

Conference presentation scene. A man stands at a podium decorated with a bouquet of flowers, addressing an audience. Behind him is a large screen displaying a slide titled "Universal Acceptance Compliance: Our Commitment and Why It Matters." The slide outlines several points: Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) We ensure that our systems support and correctly handle Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs). IDNs allow domain names to be written in non-ASCII characters, making the internet more accessible to people around the world. Internationalized Email Addresses (EAI) We make sure that our applications, websites, and systems can handle domain names and email addresses in various character sets and scripts, such as English, Sinhala, and Tamil. EAI Supported Contact Forms We ensure that our contact forms support and handle email addresses with non-Latin characters and various scripts such as English, Sinhala, and Tamil. Implement Best Practices We follow best practices recommended by organizations such as the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) and Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). There are lights on the ceiling pointing towards the stage, and a few audience members with white hair are seated in the foreground, facing the speaker and screen. The setting is formal, likely a conference or seminar.
