Accessible Tourism Experience at Bandarawela Rest House

Travel opens doors to joy, independence, and new experiences for everyone — including persons with #disabilities. Recognizing the importance of #recreation and #inclusion, #Manique Gunaratne organized a memorable #leisure experience for a group of persons with disabilities at the #Bandarawela #Rest #House, a charming hill-country retreat in Bandarawela, Sri Lanka. Surrounded by misty mountains and lush greenery, the Rest House offers a blend of comfort, serenity, and accessibility, making it a perfect destination for #inclusive #tourism. This initiative highlights how #accessible #travel not only enhances physical and mental well-being but also promotes social inclusion and equality.

A group of ten people standing outside in front of a white building with a tiled roof. Most of them are wearing name badges on lanyards around their necks, indicating that this may be a work or academic group. Some of the group members are dressed in shirts and trousers, while one woman is wearing a sari and others are in casual attire like jeans and tops. One man is holding a cane and another person is wearing a surgical face mask. The sunlight is strong, creating lens flares and bright streaks across the image, and casting long shadows on the ground. In the background, there are green trees and a clear blue sky. The overall mood of the image is casual and friendly.

A woman standing on a pathway in a garden setting. She is wearing a black saree with red floral patterns, a name badge on a blue lanyard, and black sandals. She holds a tan handbag on her left shoulder and is smiling at the camera. The background features lush greenery, flowering plants, and large trees with bright yellow blossoms. The ground appears slightly wet, suggesting recent rain, and there’s a misty atmosphere. Everything looks fresh and peaceful.

Group of people standing outdoors on a paved surface under trees. There are eleven adults, both men and women, standing in a row and facing the camera. Most are smiling, and a few have their arms around each other, showing a sense of camaraderie. One person near the right is holding a white cane, suggesting visual impairment. In the background, there is greenery, shrubbery, and hills under a partly cloudy sky, giving a scenic, natural setting. The atmosphere appears casual and relaxed, and everyone is dressed in informal clothing.
