 #Manique Gunaratne, together with a team from the #Damrivi #Foundation, embarked on a meaningful Buddhist #pilgrimage to #Dambadiwa, India in November 2024, visiting the sacred #Sujatha #Village — a place of deep historic and spiritual value where Sujatha lived close to the place where Sujatha offered milk rice to Prince #Siddhartha before his Enlightenment.

This journey highlighted the power of #accessible #tourism, ensuring that persons with #disabilities can also experience the spiritual joy, peace, and cultural richness of such sacred sites. #Travelling and engaging in religious activities are not just journeys of faith — they are journeys of empowerment, #inclusion, and equal participation for all. 


භාරත දේශයේ නේරංජනා ගග ආසන්නයේ සුජාතා නම් ගමේ සුජාතා සිටු දියණිය ජීවත් වූවාය. මෙම ගම්මානය ඉන්දියාවේ බෝද්ගයාවට ආසන්නව, ධම්ම දායිකාවක වූ සුජාතා සිටු දියණියගේ සහ ශ්‍රී සම්බුද්ධ ශාසනයේ වැදගත් සිදුවීම් සිදුවූ ස්ථානයක් ලෙස සැලකේ.සුජාතා, තම ගමේ පුණ්‍යවන්ත ගෘහිනියක ලෙස ප්‍රසිද්ධියට පත්වී සිටි අයෙකි. කුමරිය තමාගේ ජීවිතයේ පළමු බිළිඳුව ලැබීමට ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරමින් දේවතාවන්ට නමස්කාර කළාය. පසුව ඇයගේ ප්‍රාර්ථනා සාර්ථක වූ නිසා ඇය නුග රුකකට කිරි පිඩු පූජාවක් භාර වූවාය.  එනම්, නේරංජනා ගගේ දකුණු තීරයේ පිහිටි නුග රුකකට කිරි පිඩු පූජා කිරීමයි.  සුජාතා සිටු දියණිය, සිද්ධාර්ථ ගෞතම බුදුරජාණන්ට කිරි පිඩු  පිළිගැන්වූ අතර, එය උන්වහන්සේට ශක්තිය ලබා දී බුද්ධත්වයට මග පෑදී ය.එදින ධර්ම සෙවණ ගනිමින් නේරංජනා ගග අසබඩ සිටි සිද්ධාර්ථ කුමාරයා නිරාහාරව දින ගණනක් භාවනායෝගීව සිටියේය. සුජාතා ඇයගේ පුණ්‍ය පිළිවෙල අනුව සකස් කළ කිරි ආහාර එම නුග ගස අසළට ගෙන එන විට භාවනායෝගීව සිටි සිද්ධාර්ථ කුමරුව දුටුවාය. ඇය ඔහු දුටු විට නුග රුඛට අධිපති දෙවියන් වැඩ සිටිනවා යැයි සිතු නමුත් ඇය දුටුවේ තෙම සතුටු සිතින් පිරුණු, නිවන් සෙවීමට පිටත් වූ සිද්ධාර්ථ කුමාරයාය.ඇය එම කිරි ආහාර එම සිද්ධාර්ථ කුමාරයාට පුද කළාය. එය බුදුරජාණන්වහන්සේගේ ආත්මික ප්‍රබෝධයට පෙර ඇති වූ අතිශය වැදගත් අවස්ථාවක් බවට පත්විය.සුජාතා ස්ථුපය නමින් මෙහි පැරණි ස්ථුප ඇත. 2වන සියවසේ පමණ මෙම ස්තූපය ඉදිකළ බවට පුරාවිද්‍යාත්මක සාධක ඇත. සුජාතා දේවාලය, එය සුජාතා ස්තූපයට අමතරව ඉදිකරන ලද නවීන දේවාලයක් වන අතර, අද එය බෝධිගයහි වැදගත් වන්දනා ස්ථානයක් වේ. අදද සුජාතා ගම්මානය බෞද්ධයන්ගේ විශ්වාසයෙන් හා ඉතිහාසයෙන් පිරුණු පූජනීය ස්ථානයක් ලෙස පවතී.
