nclusive Workplace

Disability inclusion at work is about more than hiring people with #disabilities. An inclusive workplace values all employees for their strengths. It offers employees with disabilities — whether visible or invisible — an equal opportunity to succeed, to learn, to be compensated fairly, and to advance. Ms. Manique Gunaratne did an awareness programme on “How to make an inclusive workplace” at Hidramani Garments in Wathuragama in July 2022.

Four women wearing face masks standing near a stack of cardboard boxes inside what appears to be a warehouse or factory setting. Two women are standing face-to-face in the foreground, while two others are standing behind them, closer to a glass door and a wire gate. The women are dressed in different styles - one in a blue polka dot shirt, another in a traditional outfit with a pink vest, and the others in a blue T-shirt and a saree. There is safety signage above the door indicating an exit, and various items and workers can be seen through the fencing in the background. The atmosphere suggests they might be discussing something related to inventory or procedures.

Some are wearing blue uniforms and face masks, while one woman in the foreground is dressed in a red and cream saree. Notebooks and a laptop are on the table, and a small flip calendar can be seen. On the wall, a large screen is displaying a woman in traditional attire, suggesting a video conference or presentation. The room has a window with blinds on the right side, several black office chairs, and some clothing displayed on hangers along the left wall. There are bags placed near the woman in the saree.
